Richard "Dick" Frederick Haumann was born in Munich, Germany on May 30, 1940 to Julia Brewer and Richard Guido Haumann. In 1946 him and his mother moved to Johnson City, TN. in 1948 his father was able to leave Germany and relocated to Bronxville, NY where Dick and his mother would end up living in 1951. It was here that he met his best friend of 70+ years, Ted Berry. Him and Ted would terrorize Bronxville, both of them labeled as "wild children." He often described his Bronxville life as challenging, in terms of athletics, moral, social and personal levels. However, Dick truly lived his life to the fullest and he used to smile telling his stories of getting kegs tapped out of his car by the police, or stealing the '54 Mercury for joy rides. At Bronxville he was a varsity football player and social king. When the class of 1958 got ready to graduate, Dick was already enlisted in the navy and headed out for boot camp. The USS Edisto took off for Antartica in 1958 to explore the lost towns that the continent had to offer. This experience was supposed to straighten him out, however he continually was in "Marshall Court" for drinking on the ship deck with fellow midshipmen. After growth both mentally and physically he returned to New York after an honorable discharge in May of 1962. He had completed his GED and enrolled at Westchester Community College. It was at WCC that he met his first wife, Steph. Steph and Dick would move to Philadelphia where he would commute to Rider University to pursue a major in Economics and Marketing. He was chief editor of his school's news paper and president of his fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. His claim to fame is that his college roommate was Digger Phelps, ESPN analyst. After graduating in 1966 him and Steph began their world tour, moving from Philly to New Rochelle, where he worked at GE, then to Winston Salem NC and back to Connecticut finally to work for Loctite as an ad manager. During this time him and Steph had two sons, Christopher and Jason. Unfortunately their lives were cut short after a battle with Muscular Dystrophy, but he loved them so in the short time he was able to be with them. Steph and Dick eventually divorced and he moved to Hartford CT and started to work at the 2nd largest ad agency in CT, Keiler. It was at Keiler that he met many of his long time friends, including his soon to be second wife, Barbara. 1991 was a big year for Dick has he founded his own marketing company (Marketing Partners Group) and married Barbara. He immediately became a step father to Barbara's first son, Ryan, and two years later they had their only child, Cody. They would spend the rest of their educational years in Farmington, CT. Now to go into all the all of the experiences Dick had with his family and children would take years. However all that's needed to be heard is how he loved both Ryan and Cody endlessly. He was supportive, coaching sports teams, driving hours on end to Cody's baseball tournaments and never missing an opportunity to say how proud he was. He made friends wherever he was and always with an electrifying smile. St. Maarten was Dicks happy place. If you knew Dick, you heard the stories about the island. As a family we spent every summer on the island. Dick would sit on the beach for hours with Heniken in hand, watching cruise ships go by and take Cody jet skiing around Belair Beach. Some of the fondest memories of my life come from that island, with my father always taking pictures so we never forgot. Dick and Barbara would divorce but both stayed in Farmington. Ryan would eventually go off to college and start his career as a chef, while Cody finished up his high school years in Farmington trading between the two houses. It was when Cody was in college that Dick finally saw a chance to move down to Florida (finally be on a beach, his dream) and move in with his wonderful new girlfriend Lilo. Lilo and Dick would live in Spruce Creek for the remainder of his years, exploring New Smyrna beach, going to car and bike shows, attending concerts with the Berrys and more. Lilo and Dick were the perfect match for each other, both born in Germany, both with the same joys in life. Dick would live out his years in Florida with Lilo, driving to see all of Cody's graduations (yes there were multiple) and cumulating with seeing the marriage of Cody to his wife Abby in April 2021. Again, never missing a moment that trip to tell us how proud he was. Wether you knew him for a long period of time, or short, he had an impact on everyones life. He was fully of joy, laughs and wisdom. He cared and loved so hard for the people in his life. Dad - You will forever be a part of me, I am proud to be your son everyday. I love you.
